But Just how do you decide which style most suits the front of your home?
Most of the time the decision comes down to two things; firstly personal preference and secondly the period in which your home was built.
Nothing can ever really top personal preference as the determining factor in major home purchases. You know the kind of look you are after and it will probably take a fair bit of convincing to make you deviate.
In the UK we have the oldest housing stock in Europe, which means the construction dates of a large proportion of our homes will fall into classic design periods. So for those of us who live in an Edwardian home the likely choice will be an Edwardian style door and so on. That is not to say that you couldn’t install a new contemporary door in a Victorian or Georgian home.
